Prof. Markus Gehring

J.S.D (Yale University), Dr. iur. (University of Hamburg), LL.M. (Yale University), M.A. (University of Cambridge). Prof. Gehring is a university lecturer and Director of Studies at the University of Cambridge’s Faculty of Law, and is called to the Bar in Ontario and Frankfurt. He has published widely on sustainable development law and has expertise in public international law, constitutional and administrative law, and trade law. He is a Founding Fellow of the Cambridge Centre for Environment, Energy and Natural Resources Governance and is a fellow with several other renowned institutions including the Centre for International Governance Innovation and the Lauterpacht Centre for International Law. He has represented the CISDL at several World Trade Organization Ministerial Conferences, the World Summit on Sustainable Development in South Africa, the Rio+20 Summit on Sustainable Development and various other international negotiations. He is a member of the International Law Association (Germany) and serves on its Committee on International Law on Natural Resources, and is a member of the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s World Commission on Environmental Law.
