Julieta Sarno is an international lawyer specializing in public international law and environmental law, with over ten years of experience in environmental law and governance spanning management, legal advice, research, and policy-making. She holds a law degree from the Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA), a Master’s in Environmental Management from the Instituto Tecnológico de Buenos Aires (ITBA), and a postgraduate law degree from the University of California, Berkeley. She is currently finalizing her PhD in International Environmental Law at Leuphana University Lüneburg in Germany. Her Doctoral Research focused on the interactions among the five biodiversity-related conventions: the Convention on Biological Diversity, the Ramsar Convention, CITES, the Convention on Migratory Species and the World Heritage Convention.

Previously, she served as Governance Biodiversity Coordinator at the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development of Argentina within the National Directorate of Biodiversity, where she contributed to environmental governance and public policy on issues including protected areas, invasive alien species, and access and benefit-sharing. Her professional experience also spans the private sector and civil society organizations, providing her with a multidisciplinary perspective on environmental governance and international environmental law.

Her research explores questions of international sustainability law, with particular emphasis on the global biodiversity regime and regime interactions within international law.
