Biodiversity Law and Governance Day 2026 (BLGD 2026) will be held in Yerevan, Armenia, during the 17th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the Convention on Biological Diversity, taking place from 19 to 30 October 2026.
BLGD 2026 will convene legal experts, policymakers, academics, civil society organisations, and youth representatives to advance dialogue on biodiversity law and governance, with a focus on supporting implementation of the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
Building on the outcomes of previous Biodiversity Law and Governance Days, the 2026 edition will provide a platform for comparative exchange on legal, policy, and institutional approaches to biodiversity conservation, sustainable use, and equitable governance.
Focus Areas
BLGD 2026 is expected to address, inter alia:
- Legal and governance frameworks supporting implementation of the Global Biodiversity Framework
- Comparative experiences and innovations in biodiversity law and policy
- Governance and finance mechanisms relevant to achieving the 30×30 target
- The role of law in enabling inclusive, effective, and rights-based biodiversity action
Partnerships and Participation
BLGD 2026 will be developed in collaboration with academic institutions, international organisations, civil society partners, and youth networks, including partners based in Armenia and the wider region.
